Google allow AdWord bidding on competitors company and brand names

Google have announced that from 5th May 2008, it will once again be possible to bid on third party trademarked brand names via Google AdWords. "Er, so what?" I hear some of you ask. Well, this means anyone will be able to appear on Google using your company and product names in their ads. I bet that has got your attention!

Destroy your enemy by making him a friend

Whilst this may at first strike fear in to your hearts, don’t panic. Unless you have really upset someone – like a trade union in the case of Marks and Spencer – then Google have technology in place to support you. However, whilst it is effective it doesn’t mean you can ignore this announcement. Reputation management is a key part of the planning behind an effective Paid Search strategy. You'd do well to consider staying close to your competition and you should certainly read the benefits of a Company Blog in Client Corner.

Read more here as Adam Crawford considers the subject in our main article. Or, get in touch to discuss the subject with us.

Have a great month.
